This is the workshop that launched The Dressing Room Project in the year 2000.
In this interactive presentation, teenage girls learn to focus on their positive qualities, expand their definition of beautiful, value uniqueness in themselves and others and become more critical thinkers regarding media.
Group activities and live music performed by Mimi Kates act as the catalyst to discussion of relevant issues. The workshop also provides the opportunity for girls to take action and create their own original Dressing Room Project card designs.
As of 2011, after over a decade of presentations, Mimi is no longer touring. Select workshops may be offered in Western North Carolina.
The good news is that some of our Action Teams have integrated The Dressing Room Project into their own programs. See our list of Presenters.

Mimi helped me to find my own voice. Her dedication to young people made me realize that it is possible to make a difference.Joanna Tanger, age 17, card designer - East Wallingford, VT

came away happy and positive.
The Dressing Room Project Workshop was able to capture the girls' feelings about what is good in themselves while helping them understand how media images work to make them feel inferior. The girls enjoyed it and learned a lot.Rabbi Stacy Eskovitz Rigler, Keneseth Israel - Elkins Park, PA
