The Dressing
Room Project Workshop
presented by singer/songwriter and educator Mimi Kates
The Dressing Room Project
Workshop is an interactive
presentation which helps teenage girls learn to focus
on their positive qualities, expand their definition
of "beautiful", value uniqueness in themselves
and
others and become more critical thinkers regarding media.
Group activities, as well as live music performed by Mimi
Kates, act as
the catalyst to discussion of relevant issues. The final
portion of the
workshop provides the opportunity for girls to take action
and join our
girl-powered rebellion, creating their own original Dressing
Room Project
card designs.
A
musical performance by Mimi is a great complement to a workshop
presentation.

"Mimi helped me to find
my own voice. Her dedication
to young people
made
me realize that it is possible to make a difference."
~ Joanna Tanger, age 17, card designer - East
Wallingford, VT
"The girls who participated in The Dressing Room Project
Workshop came
away happy and positive."
~ Linda Gravatt, Guidance Counselor,
Hana High School - Hana, HI
"The Dressing Room Project Workshop was able to capture
the girls'
feelings about what is good
in themselves while helping them
understand
how media images work to make them feel inferior.
The
girls enjoyed it
and learned a lot."
~ Rabbi Stacy Eskovitz Rigler, Keneseth
Israel - Elkins Park, PA
